The RC13 Foundation has been created to honor Ryan Costello, who passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2019 due to heart failure as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition known as Wolfe-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW). He was preparing to play for the Auckland Tuatara in New Zealand.
Providing Scholarships to Wethersfield’s Youth
An annual scholarship will be awarded to a Wethersfield High School softball and baseball player. Ryan was known for not only his excellence on the field, but also for his outstanding sportsmanship. He had an uncanny ability to motivate and bring a team together. The RC13 Annual Scholarship will be given to athletes who portray excellent leadership and sportsmanship skills.
Promoting Awareness
Ryan passed away due to Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW). Ry’s condition was undiagnosed at the time of his passing. Our goal is to promote awareness and the importance of early detection of WPW in our community.
